Dooars Day for peace & brotherhood to be observed on Jan 14; 13 January, 2014; The Echo of India- Siliguri
BANARHAT, JAN 12/-/ With the target to organize a function christenes ``Dooars Day” on January 14 meetings are being held at various places in Dooars. In the same process a meeting was held to day at Bhartia Pathsala Primary School premises in Chamurchi Where discussions were held about the function.
Social worker Reja Karim, Who Chaired the meeting today, informed several political and apolitical organizations along with individuals have come forward to support the initiative. They spoke positively about celebrating Dooars Day leaving behind all differences and rivalries, he added. Representatives from various organization took part in the meeting, including Anjan Ray, Kalam Ansari, Parvin Agarwal, Jayant Sarkar, Jayprakash Agarwal, Gopal Agarwal and Ashok Shah among other.
Karim further in formed the function is being organized in the region since 2011 with the theme of peace and brotherhood. He said, ``Dooars is a multi-cultural, multi community region and also has a large potential for development. But development is possible only under the climate of peace and brotherhood.’’ He added the meeting has decided to observe Dooars Day on January 14 by lighting candles in every houses and all the religious place of worship in the region. He said peace rallies will be organized at different places, while a marathon race and blood donation camp will also be organized on the occasion . (EOIC)
