Meeting to discuss Dooars Day held in Banarhat; January 5, 2014; The Echo of India-Siliguri

BANARHAT, JAN 4/--/ An important meeting to discuss the upcoming Dooars day on January 14 was held today at Sarban Memorial School in Banarhat. The meeting formed a committee to organize the Dooars day 2014. The meeting decided to appoint R Pradhan as chairman, Ajoy Ray as vice – chairman. Shyamal Sarkar as secretary and Reza Karim as chief advisor among several others.
Chief advisor Reza Karim advocated the Dooars day is organized every year to maintain peace and tranquility among people of different community in the area. Dr. Partha Pratim said the Dooars Day was first celebration on January 14, 2011 aiming to establish peace between the communities of Dooars. He added this time the Dooars Day 2014 will be celebrated. He further appealed the residents of Dooars to light candles on the night of January 14 to symbolize peace. Secretary Shyamal Sarkar added the main aim of celebrating Dooars Day is spreading peace among all the communities residing in the region.
